SUMMER 3-DAY INTENSIVE

Dates: Wed 26th July – Fri 28th July 2023 (3 Days)

Times: 8:30am – 5:30pm

Venue: BOA Academy (Birmingham, B4 7QD)

Fees: £150.

Limited Spaces: first come, first served for each age group.

Age Range: 7yrs – 21yrs (groups will be divided based on age and experience)

Open to all: Current MTB members, non-MTB members, vocational and non-vocational ballet students are all welcome!

We look forward to you joining us for our Summer Intensive! Classes will begin each day at 9:30am and will finish at 4:30pm, with breaks to rest throughout the day (early drop-off and late pick-up available – see below).

Our 3-day intensive will provide students with the opportunity to work with our faculty of experienced teachers who have worked, or are currently working, within renowned ballet companies around the world.

Students will focus on ballet and contemporary technique as well having the opportunity to develop their performance and application of their skills during repertoire classes, where they will learn corps de ballet repertoire and solos from multiple ballets.

The students will then have the opportunity to show off what they have been learning in a small and intimate studio performance in front of parents and guardians at the end of the course.

Our doors will be open from 8:30am until 5:30pm for students who may require an early drop-off and late pick-up – no additional fees are required. Staff supervision, fun and games will all be provided during the out of class hours!

Please note, this course is non-residential and accommodation/food is not provided. Students will be required to bring a packed lunch each day.

THE SUMMER TEACHERS

JOSHUA ECOB

Ballet Teacher
Joshua's Bio

Born in Nottinghamshire, Joshua started his training at KSDance. Upon graduating, he joined the Serbian National Ballet and subsequently the Bosnian National Ballet, before returning to the UK to dance for London Contemporary Ballet Theatre.

 

Joshua completed his teacher training at the Royal Ballet School and is teaching ballet, pas de deux and repertoire at the Rambert School. He continues to work extensively as a private coach, both across the UK and internationally.

 

He has taught and choreographed consistently for Midland Theatre Ballet, South West Theatre Ballet, and Belfast Theatre Ballet since 2014.

GABRIELLE DE SOUZA

Ballet Teacher
Gabrielle's Bio

Gabrielle trained at Elmhurst Ballet School and Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance. She has performed with Matthew Bourne’s New Adventures in The Car Man at the Royal Albert Hall, and toured with Nutcracker! in the UK. She was involved in the R&D process and performances for No Time Like The Present by Tala Lee Turton Productions, and worked with CTC Dance Company during the R&D process for Wonderland in Alice. Gabrielle has also taught ballet at The International College of Musical Theatre.

ZOE CHAMBERS

Contemporary Teacher
Zoe's Bio

Zoe began her contemporary training on the Dance4 CAT training programme, learning from well renowned artists across the country. She then continued her training at the University of Central Lancashire, gaining a first-class degree in Dance Performance and Teaching. 

 

Since graduating, Zoe has predominantly worked in the contemporary dance sector. Within her work, Zoe has choreographed, performed and taught for companies such as FABRIC, Ludus Dance, Curve Theatre and Studio79.

 

The majority of Zoe’s work is now focused on working with young people to create innovative contemporary dance work. Within her teaching work, Zoe continues to support young dancers to go on to schools such as Laban, Northern School of Contemporary Dance and The Place. A huge part of Zoe’s work is based on improvisation and the importance of having ownership over your own movement.
