We are looking for boys and girls aged 7yrs-18yrs, who have a passion for performing and can show this in their dancing, with a sound knowledge of classical technique.

Application deadline is Monday 30th August 2021. Late entrants may be able to book via email if audition places are still available.

Any talented child unable to attend audition dates should contact us and we will endeavour to make arrangements via video audition if necessary.

THE COURSE AND AUDITIONS

The course is run on Sundays over three terms, commencing on Sunday 3rd October 2021 and culminating with the production week at The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham. We run our classes, rehearsals and auditions in beautiful, fully equipped studios at Elmhurst Ballet School and Birmingham Royal Ballet. Please note, this course is in no way affiliated with Elmhurst Ballet School or Birmingham Royal Ballet.

On The Audition Day

Candidates will register in the reception area of Elmhurst Ballet School. As a safety precaution due to the pandemic, we ask that all parents leave the site once children have safely entered the audition. After the audition, students will be brought to the reception area for collection.

Audition Times

Group A (7-9yrs): 9am – 11:45am

 

Group B (10-13yrs): 12pm – 2:45pm

 

Group C (13+): 3pm – 5:45pm

What To Wear

For the audition, we recommend that dancers arrive with their ballet uniform underneath their clothes, with their hair and personal presentation in place as parents are not permitted to enter with the students.

Audition Répertoire

As part of the audition process, candidates will perform a piece from Cinderella, which they will learn during the rehearsal.

Notification of Placement

Students will be informed within seven working days of the preliminary audition if they have been awarded a place at finals or if they are unsuccessful.

 

Results of the finals will be issued within seven working days along with an acceptance pack for the course. Some children may be placed on the waiting list in case places become available.

Fees

Fees are £300.00 per term (3 terms in total), payable at the beginning of each term with various methods of payment available. This includes 1 hour weekly classes and 1.5 hour weekly rehearsals.

 

Fees cover all classes, theatre and costume costs. Students will be required to supply their own shoes, tights/socks and weekly MTB practice clothes.

 

On accepting a place, a non-refundable deposit of £100.00 is required and this will be deducted from the first term fees. Should a student have to leave after their place has been accepted, the deposit will unfortunately be forfeited.

May: 8th, 14th, 15th, 22nd, (show week 23rd-29th)

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS

In the event that rehearsals cannot take place due to COVID- 19, or if a student is unable to attend a session due to self isolation, Midland Theatre Ballet will provide a live online Zoom class so that classes can continue to run.

 

In the event that the show week cannot take place in May 2022, Midland Theatre Ballet will not be required to refund any term fees, as the rehearsals throughout the year will still continue to take place which are valuable class experiences in their own right.

Scholarships

There are limited scholarships available for exceptional students which will be awarded at finals at our discretion. If your acceptance of a place is dependent on receiving a scholarship, please notify us via email at midlandtheatreballet@gmail.com.
