We are looking for boys and girls aged 7yrs-21yrs, who have a passion for performing and can show this in their dancing, with a sound knowledge of classical technique.

THE COURSE AND AUDITIONS
The course runs on Sundays commencing in June 2024 and culminating with the production week with 4 performances at The Crescent Theatre, Birmingham in March 2025. We run our classes, rehearsals and auditions in beautiful, fully equipped studios at Elmhurst Ballet School in Birmingham. Please note, this course is in no way affiliated with Elmhurst Ballet School.
What's Included?
The programme starts with an audition process, from which students are selected to join the company for the year. Students will take part in weekly ballet classes and rehearsals, which culminates in a theatre week with students taking part in 4 full-length ballet performances. This is an intense programme, where students may be required for long rehearsal days.
We run our classes, rehearsals and auditions in beautiful, fully equipped ballet studios. All classes are taught/choreographed by renowned dancers and choreographers who have performed or are still performing in world-leading ballet companies around the world.
The course runs on Sundays, commencing in June 2024 and culminating with the production week at The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham in March 2025.
Alongside this high-quality performance programme, we are delighted to introduce some additional perks for our 2024/25 season – this year all of the following are included in the total cost of the course:
- A dance and headshot studio shoot: dancers will have the opportunity to work with a professional dance photographer and they will receive 1x souvenir studio dance photo and 1x headshot*
- A recorded video of Cast A and Cast B Saturday performances.
- A brand new pair of ballet shoes for the performances.
- 20% Discount on all MTB Masterclasses/Workshops*
- 10% Discount on all MTB Holiday Courses*
*this photoshoot will take place on one of the Sundays during the programme.

On The Audition Day
Candidates will register in the reception area. We ask that all parents leave the site once children have safely entered the audition. After the audition, students will be brought to the reception area for collection.
Audition Times
Timings for preliminary auditions (24th Feb & 9th March):
All students will be required to arrive 15 minutes before the start times below:
Group A (7-9yrs): 10:15am – 12pm
Group B (10-12yrs): 12:45pm – 2:30pm
Group C (13yrs+): 3:15pm – 5pm
The timings for the Final Auditions (20th April) will be announced after the preliminary auditions have taken place.
What To Wear
For the audition, we recommend that dancers arrive with their ballet uniform underneath their clothes, with their hair and personal presentation in place as parents are not permitted to enter with the students. Dancers can wear their normal ballet attire of choice and skirts are optional.
If accepted onto the course, students will be required to purchase the MTB leotard.
Audition Répertoire
As part of the audition process, candidates will learn a piece from Beauty and the Beast during the audition, which they will then perform to the panel at the end.
Notification of Placement
Results for the auditions will be emailed on the following dates:
Preliminary 1: before 10th March 2024.
Preliminary 2: before 24th March 2024.
Finals: before 28th April 2024.
Please Note: due to the high demand for this programme, not all candidates will be successful at the preliminary auditions or the final auditions – the artistic team have to make some very difficult decisions during the audition process.
Fees
On acceptance, a non-refundable first payment of £100 is due to secure your place.
The remaining fees can be paid in 2 ways:
- £112/month for 8 months via direct debit.
- £875 paid in full before the course start date.
Total fees equal £975 (inc. VAT) if paid in full, or £996 (inc. VAT) if paying in 8 monthly instalments.

COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS
In the event that rehearsals cannot take place due to COVID- 19, or if a student is unable to attend a session due to self isolation, Midland Theatre Ballet will provide a live online Zoom class so that classes can continue to run.
In the event that the show week cannot take place in March 2025, Midland Theatre Ballet will not be required to refund any term fees, as the rehearsals throughout the year will still continue to take place which are valuable class experiences in their own right.
Scholarships
There are limited scholarships available for exceptional students which will be awarded at finals at our discretion based on performance throughout the auditions.
